It is no secret that Lakeland citizens have concerns with Lakeland Electric. The organization directly affects the wallets of each and every one of us on a monthly basis. We need an independent study and evaluation of Lakeland Electric so that we can identify any shortcomings of the current infrastructure and to understand the true costs associated with powering our homes. We can use this information to create efficiencies and cost savings for our city as well create a consistent and comprehensible billing structure.
Local Economy, Jobs and Business
Like most of the country and world, Lakeland’s economy needs immediate stimulation. Business commerce is the key to stimulating our economy and creating jobs. Lakeland is a unique blend of people that consists of many hardworking individuals and companies. I truly believe that supporting Lakeland businesses and attracting new business to the area will lead to our continued success and prosperity as a community. We need to assess the costs of entry and take a closer look at costs such as impact fees to ensure that our community is positioned to attract new business and create more jobs.
Transparency and Accountability in City Government
Transparency and accountability are key elements in understanding our local government’s objectives and actions. It is the duty of our elected officials to communicate effectively so that our community can have informed opinions and an active voice in Lakeland’s policy and politics. By making government agendas more transparent and making elected officials more accountable, my hope is to get the general public involved in Lakeland’s future more than ever before. We need clear concise goals and processes so that our ambitions do not prevent us from making the simple fixes that build a foundation for long-term accomplishment.
